Trip Description

This trip will get you to 4 of Greece’s most amazing and beautiful islands, as well as a couple of days exploring the Greek capital: Athens. Each place you’ll tick off is overflowing with its own unique history, stunning beaches and amazing food. You’ll have a couple of full days in most islands, so you’ll have enough time to get a feel for each – while leaving plenty of time to hit the beaches and top up your tan.

Start the trip off with a two-night stay in stunning Athens. This ancient city is filled to the brim with culture and history with world-famous sites, including the Acropolis and a whole host of other ancient temples. You’ll also be able to check out the edgy city centre, quirky market stalls and the array of nightlife options that Athens has to offer. On day 3, you’ll begin your Greek Island hopping adventure. Head over to the sunny island of Milos. Here you’ll have two full days to enjoy the sandy beaches, visit the amphitheatre or check out the catacombs of Tripiti village. You can even visit Sarakiniko volcano if you’re feeling energetic!

After a few days on Milos, you’ll head to the island of Ios for a couple of days. Explore Homer’s tomb and indulge in your fair share of Greek beverages with new found mates, before heading on to Naxos for two nights. Here you can head to Apollo’s temple – overlooking the sea.

Last stop? It’s the cool-kid of Greek islands, Mykonos. Combine your sightseeing with a bit of celeb-spotting as you discover Mykonos’ world-renowned nightlife. Once you’ve slept off the night before, hit the spotless stunning beaches before returning to Athens for the last night of your trip.

Athens (2 Nights)

Both historic and modern, edgy and traditional, Athens is famous as the capital of the Ancient world. Here you’ll find iconic structures like the Parthenon, the Acropolis and the Temple of Poseidon, but also a wealth of great coffee houses, delicious restaurants and buzzing bar scene. This is a truly young city, with a big student population – and the vibrant atmosphere that comes with it.

All the staff were really helpful. You could email before the trip and ask any questions. A WhatsApp group was set up a couple of weeks before so you got to message other people who were going on the trip as well as your tour leader. The Tour itself was fantastic, you get to see so much and because you’re with a tour leader they have great suggestions about things to go and see and do. The tour is laid back in the sense that you can opt out of things like a guided tour if you don’t feel like going on that day. If you’ve never stayed in a hostel before they are nothing to worry about. They are all of a good standard and you’ll always be with a few people at least who are on the tour.

I recently went on the Iron Curtain tour and it was seriously the best week I've had. Each city on the tour is a must for anyone thinking about traveling with amazing sights to see, and beer to drink! The hostels which we stayed were clean, tidy and had all the facilities a traveler needs, though with it being the middle of summer the rooms could get quite stuffy at night. Every hostel was very conveniently located quite close to the cities centre, often within walking distance with the furthest journey being only a simple tram ride away. Transitions between cities/countries went very smoothly and stress-free with our amazing tour leader (Tolly) guiding us to where we needed to be next in plenty of time. Tolly himself was a great character and never failed to make the group laugh. He had good local knowledge and knew some of the best places to visit, eat and drink. If you're either travelling on your own (as I did) or with a friend, I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting a great week away, to make new friends and good memories.

This summer I had the best trip with Euroventure! I went on the iron curtain trip for a week and couldn’t have asked for a greater time! My tour leader Tolly was so helpful and gave me lots of good advice on the best places to go in each city! The minute I got home I started looking at their other trips, highly recommend Euroventure for any trip.

Questions & Answers

Don't see the answer you're looking for?

Question:
What do I get when I book a package?
Answer:
You get all train travel and accommodation included in the price. That is, all train travel between the first city and last city on the trip and accommodation in the best hostels in each city, or in  hotels if you choose this option. For loop trips you also get return train and Eurostar travel from anywhere in the UK to the continent and back, but flights are not included in any of our packages because we do not have airline partnerships. You get breakfast in some hostels too, and can add this as an extra in hotels. You'll also get a detailed itinerary telling you exactly what trains to get and directions to the hostels. So all that's left for you to purchase is flights (if required), travel insurance and spending money.
Question:
How do I pay?
Answer:
All set trips, custom routes and group tours can be booked with a £50 deposit per person or in full (remainder balance is due 90 days before departure). For set trips and group tours - You can book and pay online by card on the package page. Any remainder balance can be paid online using your secure online portal (you’ll find the link to this in your booking summary) by card. For customer trips - When you are happy with your package, you can pay Euroventure online using your secure online portal (you’ll find the link to this in your booking summary) by card. All payments can also be made over the phone, using online bank transfer or over the counter at your local bank. Our friendly advisors will guide you through the whole process from start to finish.
Question:
Do I travel as a group or with somebody from Euroventure?
Answer:
With our independent Interrai packages, you’ll travel on your own or in your own group of friends. We don’t add other customers to your trip and you won’t have a guide with you. That’s not to say you won’t meet people – travelling in hostels you’re bound to meet loads of cool people, but by travelling with us you’re free to do that at your own pace. Euroventure trips are all about independence – you just follow the itinerary and do your own thing, knowing that we’re only a phone call away if you run into difficulty. If you'd prefer to travel with a group, we also run group tours in Europe and Asia. For these trips, you'll travel with a group of likeminded backpackers and at least one guide from Euroventure. With these tours, we'll travel in a group and stay together in hostels, however in each location you will have some free time to explore independently.
Question:
Can I go on a Euroventure if I am under 18?
Answer:
Yes, generally you can go on a Euroventure if you or some of your group is under 18, however you must inform us before you book if this is the case. Our partner hostels and hotels have different rulings regarding under 18s, for example some do not allow minors to share dorms with strangers (meaning you’d need to go in a private room with your group, and pay the extra cost), and some don’t allow minors at all, meaning we have to use an alternative hostel. Others are fine to have under 18s as long as they carry a note of permission from a legal guardian. If you’re in any doubt, just ask us for a quote and we’ll let you know if it’s fine for you to travel with us ?
Question:
Are transfers to Europe included?
Answer:
Our packages do not include flights to the start and from the end of the trip. We have plenty of trips however that do include Eurostar trains from London, and with most of these you are able to start from any mainland UK train station at no extra cost, as well as return there at the end of your trip. We just need to take into account the amount of time it takes you to travel from your UK home station to London to catch the Eurostar to Paris or Brussels, and your onward connections if necessary.
