Tour Description

Breathtaking landscapes, peaceful blue lakes, panoramic trains, beautiful food and a quick visit across the Swiss border – just some of the things you can expect from this trip discovering Northern Italy.

Your tour will start from Stresa, where you’ll get to chill out on Lake Maggiore that afternoon before meeting the rest of your group over a welcome dinner together. You’ll also get to experience the many islands of the lake in your time here, like Isola Bella and Isola Madre, followed by a ride on one of Europe’s most spectacular railways as you venture into Switzerland.

The stunning Lake Como and the famous village of Bellagio awaits before an onward stop in the fashion hub on Milan. Here you’ll have time to visit famous attractions like the Duomo, Sforzesco Castle and the Fashion Quadrilatero before travelling onto Verona to spend the night.

Explore the romantic city of Romeo and Juliet before heading to another lake – this time we’ll visit the pearl of Lake Garda – Sirmione. With it’s castle walls, drawbridge, narrow winding paths and turquoise waters, you’ll feel like you’re in a real-life fairytale!

The last stop on your trip is Venice. No visit to Northern Italy is complete without seeing the floating city and encovering the jewells that lie around each mazy street. Don’t miss out on the islands off it’s Northern shores either – bright, colourful houses and amazing seafood await – as well as the art of glass blowing! This tour of Northern Italy really does have it all.

Itinerary

Stresa (2 nights)

Upon arrival into Stresa, take your time to settle in and chill out by the relaxing Lake Maggiore before you meet the rest of your group later that evening. You’ll enjoy a welcome dinner together before getting some rest ahead of an action-packed second day, where you’ll get to jump on a ferry to explore the beauty of the lake and its islands – including Isole Borromee, Isola Bella and Isola Madre.

Train to Locarno

Locarno

Discover the Centovalli railway – one of Europe’s most spectacular – which will treat you to endless valleys and unforgettable landscapes whilst travelling to Locarno. Your end destination is a charming little Swiss town on the lake. Enjoy some time here before heading to Como, where your luggage will be waiting for you.

Train to Lake Como

Lake Como (2 nights)

Wake up in your Como hotel and get ready to enjoy a walking tour of Como centre before admiring the town from the water with a boat cruise. You’ll reach the pearl of Lake Como in Bellagio – enjoy your time here in this idyllic, picture-postcard place before returning to your hotel.

Train to Milan

Milan

A quick stop in the fashion capital will give you enough time to have the real Milanese experience – and a real Milan-style coffee! Take in the famous Duomo as well as the Sforzesco Castle before we set off to Verona that afternoon.

Train to Verona

Verona (2 nights)

Explore the romantic city of Romeo and Juliet with the help of your tour leader. You’ll experience must-see attractions like the Arena, Piazza delle Erbe and the houses of Juliet and Romeo.

Train to Lake Garda

Lake Garda

The afternoon will be spent in the fairytale-like place of Sirmione. As the road narrows, and the towns’s castle walls come into sight, you’ll straight away get the impression that this is not like many other places that you will have ever been!

Wander around the coastal paths, dip in the crystal clear waters or enjoy the peaceful olive tree lined gardens. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see the mountains across the lake. This place is a real medieval jewell.

Train to Venice

Venice (2 nights)

The last stop of the tour is Venice. Take advantage of the Vaporetto Pass to move freely across the historical centre of Venice. Tick off famous and must-see sights like the Rialto Bridge and Piazza S. Marco – but also be sure to visit other, less touristy areas of Venice for a flavour of what the city is really like. We recommend having a drink and a bite to eat outside of the centre and away from tourist attractions in order to get authentic food – and benefit local business owners.

We’ll also visit the island of Murano where you’ll discover the ancient art of glass-blowing in a traditional furnace.

After breakfast on your final day, it’s time to say goodbye to your new friends you’ve made. If you need help getting anywhere from this point on, do let us know and we can work with you to make an onward-route.
