Day 1 - Malaga


Welcome to Spain! You can check into the hotel from mid-afternoon so the earlier you can fly in the better! The group will meet for the first time as a group in the hotel and once all settled in, will head out to explore this beautiful beachfront city.

Your tour leader will take you to one of the best restaurants to sample a range of tapas, beer and sangria. The night is then yours to explore, whether it be the heading to the plazas and bars, having a late-night swim or relaxing at the hotel.

Day 2 - Malaga/Granada


After breakfast, take a direct train to Granada, a city renowned for its breathtaking beauty, rich history, and unique cultural heritage. The city is most famous for the stunning Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most iconic examples of Islamic architecture in Europe.

Soon after checking in, head out to explore the Alhambra palace and fortress complex. The rest of the day and evening is yours to get lost in this magical city.

Day 3 - Granada


Today, head into the Sierra Nevada! Reconnect with the wonders of nature on an exhilarating e-bike expedition through the second-highest mountain range in Europe. Behold the majestic peaks of Mulhacén, soaring to an impressive altitude of 3,482 meters above sea level, and keep an eye out for the indigenous wildlife, including the remarkable mountain goats that thrive in this rugged terrain.

But don’t worry, not online do we use e-bikes but it is almost all downhill! Arrive back to Granada in the afternoon for your last evening in the city. Why not explore the Sacromonte neighbourhood, famous for its cave houses and Flamenco shows? Or relax and rejuvenate in one of Granada’s Arab baths or modern spa facilities?

Day 4 - Granada/Seville


After breakfast, take a direct train to Seville, renowned for its rich Moorish heritage, stunning architecture flamenco and oranges! Soon after checking in to our hotel and getting settled, head to a world-famous flamenco show with tapas and wine tasting.

This really is one of the most Spanish experiences you will ever get! The rest of the night is yours to explore the beautiful city lit up at night.

Day 5 - Seville


Today, have a whole day dedicated to Seville starting with a guided tour  by a local to give you an introduction to the city and advise you on what you might like to do after. Explore the exquisite Alcázar Palace with its intricate tilework and lush gardens, and admire the grand Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world.

The Barrio Santa Cruz offers picturesque streets and the birthplace of Flamenco, while the Plaza de España showcases magnificent Spanish Renaissance architecture. Triana, across the iconic Triana Bridge, boasts traditional culture and ceramics.

Day 6 - Seville/Caceres


This morning, take a direct regional train through Andalucia into Extremadura to the city of Caceres. Enjoy the picturesque Spanish countryside, olive groves, vineyards and rolling hills from the comfort and charm of a train.

Caceres has a captivating blend of history, culture, and architectural splendor. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, its well-preserved medieval Old Town stands as a living testament to centuries of diverse influences, featuring a remarkable mix of Roman, Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance architecture.

The city’s cobblestone streets wind through charming squares, lined with centuries-old buildings adorned with intricately carved facades. Notable landmarks include the Plaza Mayor, a grand square surrounded by arcaded buildings, and the Bujaco Tower, an iconic Moorish structure. Caceres is a destination where time seems to have stood still and off the beaten path for most tourists.

Day 7 - Caceres/Oropesa de Toledo


Today, take short train ride to another hidden gem called Oropesa de Toledo! The city exudes a distinctive allure that transports visitors to a bygone era. This charming town, with its hilltop setting, is characterized by medieval splendor and historical resonance. Dominating the skyline is the majestic Oropesa Castle, a formidable structure that stands as a testament to the town’s rich past.

Cobblestone streets wind through the historic center, leading to quaint squares and centuries-old churches, creating an immersive atmosphere of timeless beauty. Oropesa’s historical significance, intertwined with the castle’s role as a residence for the Toledo Counts, adds layers to its narrative.We are only here for one day so explore this incredible city at your own pace!

Day 8 - Oropesa de Toledo/Madrid


In the morning, take a direct train to the capital city – Madrid. Once checked into the hotel, you have the afternoon to explore the city before meeting up together for a Paella cooking class! Spend the evening cooking, eating and drinking with Spanish culinary experts – a truly wonderful way to spend our last evening together!

This is the departure day. Unless you would like to seamlessly continue your tour with us on the Northern Spain package and Portugal package!

FAQs

Where should I fly in and out of?

It will be most convenient for you to fly into Malaga and fly out of Madrid. You can also add a night of accommodation either side or continue your tour onto the ‘Best of Northern Spain‘ route.

What time does the tour start?

We meet for the first time at the hotel at 1700 on the first day. However, you can check in from 2pm and if you arrive early you can always leave your baggage at reception. You can even add one night of pre-trip accommodation.

What time does the tour end?

The last planned activity will happen the night before departure so on the departure day you can leave at any time but remember there is breakfast included so try not to leave too early! You can also add a night of post-trip accommodation.

Who else will be on my tour?

Our tours are open to anyone aged over 18 however most people are in their 30s and 40s and travelling alone. We do also sometimes get groups of two or more people together. There will be between 6 and 20 people on the tour with average numbers around 10-12 people. 

Will the route or activities change?

Sometimes for operational reasons we have to alter the route or activities but if this happens it will be changed to something just as good.

I have dietary requirements. Can you cater for this?

Almost certainly yes, if you tell us in advance. Vegetarians, vegans, those with gluten intolerances and allergies can almost always be catered for. Feel free to check with us beforehand if you need. 

Do I need to take part in every activity?

Whilst we would love for you to join us in everything you absolutely do not need to!

What are the hotels like?

Really good! On all our flashpacking tours we stay in carefully selected 4 star boutique hotels that are comfortable and full of character. They are centrally located and within 30 mins walking distance of a the train station. They all have ensuites and breakfast included.

How do the room allocations work?

You will be sharing a twin room with another member of the group of the same sex. If you have booked with a friend then let us know so that we can ensure you are paired together. If you have selected a single upgrade then you will get the room to yourself in either a single or double bed.

What are the trains like?

Really good! We have carefully planned the route so that we mostly use direct trains and we include all seat reservations where available, making things as easy as possible for you.

When will I get to meet the group?

We will set up a whatsapp group the week before the trip for people to start to get to know each other if they want to but if not then it will be on the first day of the tour at the hotel.

Do I get free time?

Yes there is plenty of time between activities for you to do your own thing or hang out with the rest of the group. There is always someone around to join you on your explorations!

Are airport transfers included?

No they are not but we are happy to help you find out about public transport from the airport.
