Trip Style

If you love an epic journey, Rail & Sail Croatia is perfect for you! Travel all the way from London to Split by train, then take a yacht to explore the beauty of the Croatian Islands. After enjoying some of Europe’s most popular destinations, you’ll be guided through Croatia with a group of like-minded people. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in activities such as paddleboarding, biking or snorkelling, surrounded by breath-taking landscapes of the Adriatic Coastline!

Trip Description

Rail & Sail from London to Dubrovnik

Starting in London, travel all the way down to Split by train and continue your journey with a one-week sailing trip around Croatia, plus, experience Western, Central or Eastern Europe en route on this 14-day adventure! You’ll have a full day in each city, meaning you’ve got plenty of time to see the sights.

Start your trip in London and hop on-board the Eurostar to begin your journey. Explore this stunning city, filled with culture, great food and – of course – nightlife. Alternatively, pick the Rail & Sail up directly from Paris if you prefer to fly to your start point.

Arrive fresh and ready to explore the French Capital. By day, tick off the classics: the Eiffel Tower, The Arc de Triomphe, the stunning Champs Elysees and the Louvre. By night, settle into a cosy pavement cafe with a glass of French wine or local beer. If you’ve seen it all before, head to the Pompidou Centre for your modern art fix or sip on cocktails around Quai de Jemmapes.

From here, head East into Germany to the Bavarian capital of Munich. Famous for beer gardens, green parks, grand Gothic buildings and, of course, Oktoberfest. Munich is the perfect bridge between East and West. You’ll certainly start to feel the Eastern European influence when it comes to the price of your beers… Spend an easy day exploring this gracious city before relaxing in one of the many traditional beerhalls.

Next up, you’ll head to Croatia, calling first at the vibrant capital of Zagreb, before heading South to Zadar. Listen to the Sea Organ (yes, really) and watch the sunsets that some claim are the world’s most beautiful. Finally, continue to the stunning city of Split perched on the shores of the Adriatic.

You will then start your sailing trip around the Croatian Islands. From Split to Dubrovnik, you will explore 8 cities on 6 different islands. A lot of different activities are included- such as paddleboarding, swimming or snorkelling. You can even learn to sail with your professional skipper! But don’t worry, you’ll also have plenty of time to explore these islands at you own pace.

I had an amazing time on the iron curtain tour which was well organised so I could see a lot in a short space of time. Our tour leader was great; very knowledgeable and made good recommendations in each city. I was also pleased with the quality and location of the hostels. I will definitely consider booking with euroventure again.

Questions & Answers

Don't see the answer you're looking for?

Question:
Are flights included in the price?
Answer:
International flights aren’t included however we are happy to help you with advice on what flights to book. All domestic flights are included.
Question:
Can I go on a Euroventure if I am under 18?
Answer:
Yes, generally you can go on a Euroventure if you or some of your group is under 18, however you must inform us before you book if this is the case. Our partner hostels and hotels have different rulings regarding under 18s, for example some do not allow minors to share dorms with strangers (meaning you’d need to go in a private room with your group, and pay the extra cost), and some don’t allow minors at all, meaning we have to use an alternative hostel. Others are fine to have under 18s as long as they carry a note of permission from a legal guardian. If you’re in any doubt, just ask us for a quote and we’ll let you know if it’s fine for you to travel with us ?
Question:
Do I travel as a group or with somebody from Euroventure?
Answer:
With our independent Interrai packages, you’ll travel on your own or in your own group of friends. We don’t add other customers to your trip and you won’t have a guide with you. That’s not to say you won’t meet people – travelling in hostels you’re bound to meet loads of cool people, but by travelling with us you’re free to do that at your own pace. Euroventure trips are all about independence – you just follow the itinerary and do your own thing, knowing that we’re only a phone call away if you run into difficulty. If you'd prefer to travel with a group, we also run group tours in Europe and Asia. For these trips, you'll travel with a group of likeminded backpackers and at least one guide from Euroventure. With these tours, we'll travel in a group and stay together in hostels, however in each location you will have some free time to explore independently.
Question:
When do I receive my tickets?
Answer:
Once we receive your final payment we will get to work on purchasing your train tickets which don’t become available as early as the accommodation. In some cases, we can’t get hold of tickets until four weeks in advance, so we normally say you should expect your travel pack around 2-4 weeks before you depart.
