Trip Style

If you’re looking for an epic journey, then Rail & Sail Croatia is for you. Travel all the way from London to Dubrovnik by train in a week, take a yacht to explore the Croatian Islands, then go back to London passing through 4 European capitals!

This is a two-in-one trip, you’ll explore big European cities independently for two weeks before being guided through Croatian islands with a group of like-minded people- if that’s not enough, you’ll also have the opportunity to take part in unforgettable activities such as paddle boarding, mountain biking or snorkelling!

Trip Description

Rail & Sail from London to Split back to London

On our 3-week Rail & Sail Croatian adventure, you’ll explore Europe from one end to the other. Starting in London, travel through Europe to the Croatian coastal city of Dubrovnik and continue your journey with a one-week sailing trip around Croatia and its many islands and inlets. You’ll have a full day in each city, meaning you’ve got plenty of time for sight-seeing.

Start your trip in London and hop on-board the Eurostar to begin your journey. Extend your stay here and explore this stunning city, filled with history, culture, great food and – of course – nightlife. Alternatively, pick the Rail & Sail up directly from Paris if you prefer to fly to your first destination.

Arrive ready to explore the French Capital. By day, tick off the classics: the Eiffel Tower, The Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysees and the Louvre. By night, settle into a cosy cafe with a glass of French wine or local beer and bask in the atmosphere of pretty Paris. If you’ve seen it all before, head to the Pompidou Centre for your modern art fix.

From here, head East into Germany to the Bavarian capital of Munich. Famous for beer gardens, green parks, grand Gothic buildings and, of course, Oktoberfest. Spend a day exploring this beautiful city before relaxing in one of the many traditional beerhalls.

Next up, you’ll head to Croatia, calling first at the vibrant capital of Zagreb, before continuing to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dubrovnik (home of Game of Thrones), where you can take a boat to island of Lokrum and sit in the original Iron Throne!

Dubrovnik is where your sailing trip begins. Departing for Split, you’ll explore 8 cities on 5 different islands where you can enjoy activities such as paddle-boarding, swimming or snorkelling- you can even learn to sail with your professional skipper! But don’t worry, you’ll also have plenty of time to explore these islands at you own pace!

After a week of sailing, you’ll make your way back home, starting in Ljubljana. During your stay in Slovenia’s picturesque capital, why not head to the glorious Lake Bled, just 45 minutes away? This is one of Slovenia’s (if not all of Europe’s) most picturesque destinations- perfect for bringing home those awe-inspiring holiday snaps.

Spend a couple of days in sophisticated Vienna and soak up the culture with traditional Viennese Schnitzel and classical music. This often-overlooked city is teeming with palaces and historical buildings to explore. After some sightseeing, grab a slice of apple strudel and a coffee before you head out to explore your next destination…

Continue to Berlin and start your trip by passing Checkpoint Charlie- an old military checkpoint which once separated East and West Berlin. Wander through the city’s bustling on a historical walking tour or enjoy the city’s famously alternative nightlife. Filled with everything from edgy clubs to truly bizarre bars, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re lucky, you might even get into Berghain!

Next up is Amsterdam. The capital of the Netherlands is home to a liberal atmosphere, friendly people, world class cultural heritage and incredible architecture. Hire a bike and visit some amazing museums (our favourites are the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum), before hitting up its trendy bars, famous coffee-shops and the (in)famous Red-Light District. Amsterdam is unique and endlessly fascinating!

Finally, after this breath-taking 3 weeks Rail & Sail mega-holiday, you’ll get to rest your weary bones on the Eurostar back to London. Just say if you need us to arrange travel from London to your hometown – we’ll do what we can!

From the moment we booked our week long trip with Goat, via Amy, nothing was too much trouble and she talked us through the process and made the whole thing a breeze. The van itself was clean, well equipped and very easy to drive. We opted for GOAT (Amy) to arrange our campsites and were presented with a personalised itinerary that was extremely welcomed as we were given all the information needed to glide in and out of the sites selected and we were not disappointed in anyway. I can thoroughly recommend this efficient operator without any hesitation. My deposit was returned within 48 hours without a hitch. We will use them again.☺️❤️❤️

I CANNOT recommend this travel agency enough! I booked a surprise honeymoon for my nephew and his spouse with Euroventure Travel Ltd. and their customer service is unparalleled! For reference, I live in the US and wanted to plan a multi-country trip via rail through Europe for my nephew and his spouse for their honeymoon. They helped me customize the trip, (3 countries) keep in a budget I wanted, and picked out some amazing hotels all within the city centers of their itineraries. I wanted the trip to include a a few countries, but I didn't have a huge budget, and they really worked with me to make this an amazing trip! We went through a few scenarios, trying to decide what would be the best itinerary for the time period and budget I was able to afford. It was great. There were a few times that I had simple (and sometimes complicated) questions regarding the trip and I would email the travel team in the evening and wake up to detailed responses in the morning. If I emailed during their working hours, I received an almost instant response from the team, not an automated response. I honestly felt like I was talking to a friend and not a travel company. I can't thank them enough for helping me plan an unforgettable honeymoon for my loved ones!! If you are planning a holiday via rail throughout Europe and need help planning, look no further, Euroventure Travel is the agency you want to use for your holiday!!!!!

I had an amazing time on the iron curtain tour which was well organised so I could see a lot in a short space of time. Our tour leader was great; very knowledgeable and made good recommendations in each city. I was also pleased with the quality and location of the hostels. I will definitely consider booking with euroventure again.

The Iron Curtain Tour I went on was a great adventure! Euroventure was responsive with communication and on the tour the hostels were wonderful! My group was affected by the pandemic closures, but we made the most of it and Euroventure kept us updated throughout the week. No issues during travel!

Questions & Answers

Don't see the answer you're looking for?

Are flights included in the price?
International flights aren’t included however we are happy to help you with advice on what flights to book. All domestic flights are included.
Can I go on a Euroventure if I am under 18?
Yes, generally you can go on a Euroventure if you or some of your group is under 18, however you must inform us before you book if this is the case. Our partner hostels and hotels have different rulings regarding under 18s, for example some do not allow minors to share dorms with strangers (meaning you’d need to go in a private room with your group, and pay the extra cost), and some don’t allow minors at all, meaning we have to use an alternative hostel. Others are fine to have under 18s as long as they carry a note of permission from a legal guardian. If you’re in any doubt, just ask us for a quote and we’ll let you know if it’s fine for you to travel with us ?
Do I travel as a group or with somebody from Euroventure?
With our independent Interrail packages, you’ll travel on your own or in your own group of friends. We don’t add other customers to your trip and you won’t have a guide with you. That’s not to say you won’t meet people – travelling in hostels you’re bound to meet loads of cool people, but by travelling with us you’re free to do that at your own pace. Euroventure trips are all about independence – you just follow the itinerary and do your own thing, knowing that we’re only a phone call away if you run into difficulty. If you'd prefer to travel with a group, we also run group tours in Europe and Asia. For these trips, you'll travel with a group of likeminded backpackers and at least one guide from Euroventure. With these tours, we'll travel in a group and stay together in hostels, however in each location you will have some free time to explore independently.
When do I receive my tickets?
Once we receive your final payment we will get to work on purchasing your train tickets which don’t become available as early as the accommodation. In some cases, we can’t get hold of tickets until four weeks in advance, so we normally say you should expect your travel pack around 2-4 weeks before you depart.
