Welcome to Vietnam!

Hanoi, cultural and political capital of Vietnam, is known for its architectural contrasts of old vs. new, and foreign influences. Meet your tour leader and explore the Old Quarter, visit the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long before kick-starting your trip with a bar crawl!

Day 2-3 –Hanoi, Vietnam

Wake up to see the sun rise from your  window before heading to the Hoa Lo prison, a site used by the French colonists in Vietnam for political prisoners, and then later by North Vietnam for U.S. Prisoners of War during the Vietnam War. Before lunch on Old Quarter Street we’ll head over to the Hoan Kiem lake for a dip!

Day 4-5 – Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

105 miles/ 170km from Hanoi lies Ha Long Bay. Home to thousands of tiny islands and stunning beaches, it’s not surprising it’s featured in so many films like Kong. We will be heading to the Bay first thing in the morning travelling by bus and boat, where you’ll have lunch in the floating village (included activity) with plenty of time to spend boat jumping before we have a group BBQ dinner.

On day 5, we’ll spend the morning kayaking, before heading to Hanoi to hop on the sleeper bus to Phong Nha.

Day 6 – Phong Nha, Vietnam

It’s time to relax. Explore Bong Lai Valley by bike and cycle past rural farms and villages. Stop for a drink, a quick snack and if you fancy, a game of volleyball with the locals. Nip off for a quick nap in one of the hammocks or float your way down-river. For those of you that don’t fancy cycling, you can opt to go Easy Tiger to relax by the pool! After 7 days we think the time is right for singing your lungs out with an evening of karaoke!.

Day 7 –Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Vietnam

An action packed day in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO site that is famous for its 400 Million year old karst mountains.  Spend the day exploring its’ wondrous caves, floating in mud-pools, kayaking, and zip-lining across the water! There will be plenty of time to relax this evening (the national park tour is now an optional activity).

Day 8 – Hoi An, Vietnam

It will be an early start today as we hop on the bus to Hoi An. Hoi An was once a major port during the ancient Champa Kingdom, and is well known in Vietnam for it’s stunning architecture. Explore the Ancient Town and sniff out hidden treasures in its boutiques and market stalls. Head off for a night out for the true Vietnam experience!

Day 9 – Hoi An, Vietnam

Relax on the beach or jump on a Coconut Basket boat to do some farming. The choice is yours!

Day 10-11 – Saigon, Vietnam

Saigon is a vibrant and youthful city that played a decisive role in Vietnam’s history.

Arrive at 11am, and head directly to your hostel, which has its own roof top bar and pub crawl. You’ll be right at the heart of one of the region’s most buzzing cities! Visit Ben Thanh Market for great fashion bargains and a delicious street food dinner. Make sure you sample some Pho while you’re there!

Day 12 – Saigon, Vietnam

A day of history starts at the Cu Chi tunnels dug by the Communist guerrilla group, the Viet Cong, that used the tunnels as a war asset to fight American and South Vietnamese troops during the civil war. Spend your afternoon at the War Remnants Museum to learn about the impact of the Vietnam War (1955-1975). Both of these history fixes are optional activities so you can decide which one you fancy or both :).

Day 12 – Mekong Delta, Vietnam

The Mekong Delta is filled with homes, markets, and boats that float on its rivers. Begin your tour of this waterside paradise by visiting the floating market. In the afternoon, take a boat tour through the Tra Su Forest wildlife reserve. The reserve is home to over 70 different bird species and over a hundred different types of flora and fauna.

Day 13 – Koh Rong Island, Cambodia

Get ready to be stunned! Today we enter Cambodia, crossing at the border by Ha Tien towards Koh Rong Island. The island is the definition of a Southeast Asian paradise and a must stop for anyone looking to experience a Moon Party. Tonight, chill out on the beaches and absorb the impressive scenery or head to one of the many beach bars on  Koh Touch.

Day 14 – Koh Rong Island, Cambodia

Today is a perfect day to enjoy the beach and wander the island. Want something more active? Take the opportunity to learn how to scuba dive. Not for you? Don’t worry you can relax and enjoy the sun!

Day 15 – Koh Rong Island, Cambodia

Explore the surrounding islands on a boat tour, visit a local village, and go swimming. If you’re lucky, you might get a chance to spot seahorses, blue spotted ribbon-tail rays, and diamond fish on your excursion.

Day 16 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Travel to the nation’s capital, Phnom Penh, by ferry and bus via Sihanoukville. Grab a roadside snack en route, you’ll find everything from fresh mangoes to deep fried spiders…

Day 17 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Hit by bitter times of war, this trendy and alluring city was formerly known as the ‘Pearl of Asia’. Admire the Royal Palace, and take a sobering visit to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek as well as the S21 prison.  In the evening amble along the riverside promenade. For a touch of class, have a drink at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club. One of the city’s most sophisticated joints (the killing fields is now an optional activity but the entrace fee is only $3).

Day 18 – Siem Reap, Cambodia

Today’s travel takes us to Siem Reap also known as the ancient gateway of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Angkor Wat. Spend the afternoon visiting the local villages and relaxing at the pool and in the evening take on the Fear Factor Food Challenge complemented by enjoying drinks from a Tuk Tuk cocktail bar.

Day 19 – Siem Reap, Cambodia

Today we will be heading to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat – the biggest religious monument known to man and one of the Wonders of the World. Today you will be exploring the Temples of Angkor; amongst them Ta Prohm – famous for featuring as the backdrop in Tomb Raider. In the afternoon there will be time for a dip in the pool before getting ready for our final big night out. Explore Pub Street, and visit the night market for a bite to eat.

Day 20 – Siem Reap, Cambodia

After 20 days of travelling in some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, it’s time to bid farewell to your companions. However, rest assured, while you may be leaving Southeast Asia, the spirit of these beautiful nations will never really leave you. Take the bus back to Bangkok to head home – or continue your travels. You’ll arrive in Bangkok at approx 16.00 so we’d recommend staying overnight before you continue your travels or leave SEA.

From the moment we booked our week long trip with Goat, via Amy, nothing was too much trouble and she talked us through the process and made the whole thing a breeze. The van itself was clean, well equipped and very easy to drive. We opted for GOAT (Amy) to arrange our campsites and were presented with a personalised itinerary that was extremely welcomed as we were given all the information needed to glide in and out of the sites selected and we were not disappointed in anyway. I can thoroughly recommend this efficient operator without any hesitation. My deposit was returned within 48 hours without a hitch. We will use them again.☺️❤️❤️

I CANNOT recommend this travel agency enough! I booked a surprise honeymoon for my nephew and his spouse with Euroventure Travel Ltd. and their customer service is unparalleled! For reference, I live in the US and wanted to plan a multi-country trip via rail through Europe for my nephew and his spouse for their honeymoon. They helped me customize the trip, (3 countries) keep in a budget I wanted, and picked out some amazing hotels all within the city centers of their itineraries. I wanted the trip to include a a few countries, but I didn't have a huge budget, and they really worked with me to make this an amazing trip! We went through a few scenarios, trying to decide what would be the best itinerary for the time period and budget I was able to afford. It was great. There were a few times that I had simple (and sometimes complicated) questions regarding the trip and I would email the travel team in the evening and wake up to detailed responses in the morning. If I emailed during their working hours, I received an almost instant response from the team, not an automated response. I honestly felt like I was talking to a friend and not a travel company. I can't thank them enough for helping me plan an unforgettable honeymoon for my loved ones!! If you are planning a holiday via rail throughout Europe and need help planning, look no further, Euroventure Travel is the agency you want to use for your holiday!!!!!

I had an amazing time on the iron curtain tour which was well organised so I could see a lot in a short space of time. Our tour leader was great; very knowledgeable and made good recommendations in each city. I was also pleased with the quality and location of the hostels. I will definitely consider booking with euroventure again.

The Iron Curtain Tour I went on was a great adventure! Euroventure was responsive with communication and on the tour the hostels were wonderful! My group was affected by the pandemic closures, but we made the most of it and Euroventure kept us updated throughout the week. No issues during travel!

Koh Rong:

At certain times of the year (low season particularly) we have days when the weather and wave conditions mean we are unable to use boats to access around the islands. In these circumstances we continue to operate by trekking through the island instead, so should these conditions coincide with your visit we would have to adapt the tours accordingly.

This may also apply to the conditions for camping and hammock stays. We may have to adapt the tour to include village homestays or accommodation we have on other beaches around the island. Prices may vary in accordance with the accommodations requested.

Questions and Answers

Do many people travel alone?

Yes – most travellers in Southeast Asia are travelling solo and huge numbers are from the UK, Europe and Australia so you’ll certainly meet likeminded backpackers and travellers. Whether you’re travelling alone or with friends or a partner, joining our group tour is a great way to meet new people and sharing your experiences in Vietnam, Cambodia before you finish in Bangkok.

When is the best time to visit Southeast Asia?

October to March is traditionally the dry season in SEA and it’s also cool so this is the best time of year to visit the region. SEA is a year round destination though and the tourists destinations tend to be a little quieter during the rainy season which might be to your liking.

How much spending money will I need?

It really varies depending on your tastes and budget, but Southeast Asia can be very inexpensive. You can get a simple meal, such as a bowl of noodles, for £1.50, or you can go for fancier options. Generally, we take our travellers to affordable restaurants, and we recommend budgeting around £5-£10 per day for food and drink. ATM’s are also plentiful and you can withdraw money in all the places that we visit on the tour.

What’s not included?

  • Flights to and from Southeast Asia
  • Visas
  • Optional activities
  • Food and drink (some meals are included as shown above)
  • Any accommodation and public transport once the trip has finished in Bangkok

How do I get visas?

Nice and easy! They’re available upon arrival in all of the places we visit for British passport holders and a number of EU countries but please check the appropriate embassy website for up to date visa info. We strongly recommend that you travel with passport photographs and USD for Laos & Cambodia visas. For UK citizens, please refer to the following link:

When should I arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam?

We advise either arriving the night before or on the morning of the trip so you’ve got time to rest up and relax before you meet the rest of the group. If you need pre-trip accommodation then we can arrange and book this for you 🙂 Your tour starts at 21:30 at your first hostel!

When does the tour finish?

Your tour finishes at approximately 4pm in Bangkok so we’d recommend booking flights for the following day as you don’t want to miss your return flight. If you need post-trip accommodation in the city, we can also arrange and book this for you.
